Lake Minnewaska's public access is located only five blocks away from the Cedar Inn. This lake is the 7,110 acre jewel of Pope County and is one of the best all around fishing lakes in Minnesota. Minnewaska is known primarily for great walleye and bass fishing but also offers a great bluegill and crappie population. Northern Pike of the 2 - 5 pound variety are also abundant. Minnewaska is also known for great ice fishing.

Lake Minnewaska offers a large public beach area in Starbuck for swimming, boating and a variety of other water recreation.
There is also a large city park located along the shores of Lake Minnewaska. Included in this park is a large playground area, tennis courts, horseshoe pits, a softball field and a basketball court. There are also a variety of picnic shelters and a band shelter. There are over ten miles of trails in and around Starbuck if walking or biking is your interest.
The Cedar Inn Motel is located five miles from Glacial Lakes State Park. This park features large groves of hardwood trees and rolling hills. It also contains spring fed lakes and a fantastic system of trails. There is also an asphalt trail going to the park from Starbuck.

The Minnewaska Golf Club is located on the northwest side of Lake Minnewaska about 7 miles to the east on highway 28. Scenic views and a variety of peaks and valleys makes this golf course challenging as well as breathtaking.
The Pezhekee Golf Course is positioned on the southeast side of Lake Minnewaska about 8 ½ miles away on South Lakeshore Drive. This course offers a challenging combination of mature growth trees and a variety of water hazards.
The Benson Golf Club is located about 20 miles south of the Cedar Inn. The Benson Golf Club is one of the finest and most complete golf facilities in the area. This course offers a challenging, yet fair, test of golf for all levels of play. The golfer will feel right at home with the finest in golf and dining.
